Joel & Dee, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada

As most of you know, Jay spent the last two weeks of September in Canada, visiting friends and family and enjoying the 30 degree heat, while I held the fort back here (in the rain).
As usual, Jay was determined to travel with as much camera equipment as possible but it's good to see that he managed to do some work while he was in Ontario. That is, if you can call a portrait shoot with two of our best friends work!
Joel was the best man at our wedding and he did a fantastic job. And his lovely lady Dee was responsible for making sure that he not only got to Scotland but left the pub early enough the night before (4am I think it was!) to make the 100-mile train journey to our wedding venue. So she deserves lots of praise too!
It's always a joy to photograph two people in love and this shoot was great fun for all involved, including the lovely Lexi (Joel & Dee's husky) who enjoyed her starring role.

Real Life Weddings Magazine

When Real Life Weddings magazine asked us to submit our favourite wedding photograph for publication in the next issue we knew we were going to have a very difficult time choosing!

We have photographed so many beautiful brides and gorgeous grooms, at such a variety of stunning locations, that trying to pick just one image seemed impossible.

So, we sat down and looked through the last 50 weddings we have photographed, and after a week we had managed to narrow our choice down to five photos. This was put to the public vote (i.e. friends and family were called in to help us decide) and finally we managed to all agree on our favourite photo.

And here it is...

Justyna looked stunning as she arrived at St Mary's Cathedral. Here she is being admired by one of the youngest guests who thought she looked absolutely beautiful. And so did we.

The next issue of Real Life Weddings is due out next month. Look out for a feature on another of our weddings.

Linda & Alastair, Angus

It's rare that we have a weekend off and, with Jay visiting family in Canada, I took the opportunity to spend the weekend with my parents at their farm in Angus.
The wet summer has played havoc with harvest this year. While this is not good news for our farmers, it did mean that my Dad had time to pose for a few new photos for his website - www.fordhouse.co.uk
I also persuaded my parents to take part in a mini portrait shoot, as the last time they had professional photos of the two of them taken was at their wedding over 30 years ago! It was a pleasure to photograph two of my favourite people and I hope we are still as happy as they are in 30 years time!

Vows Awards

The Vows Awards recognise excellent service in the Scottish wedding industry and allow brides and grooms to personally recommend their favourite suppliers. Finalists will be announced in mid-October and the award ceremony will be held on November 2nd at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel.
If you were married between 21 September 2007 and 20 September 2008 then you are eligible to vote. The closing date for nominations is September 20th (this Saturday) and by taking part you will be entered into a prize draw to win a second honeymoon.
You can vote online at Vows Awards. We would really appreciate your vote!

"I've logged onto the Vows website and nominated Elemental Weddings. Thanks for letting me know. My intention was always to vote but I didn't realise that the closing date was coming up. Would have been terrible if I had missed it.

Take care,

Therese"

"All done. GOOD LUCK!!

Hope you are both well.

Sheila"

"The images are amazing, thank you so much for capturing our special day so beautifully!! I was in tears this morning, they are just so wonderful (the day had gone so quickly that I'd been really looking forward to seeing the story unfold again through your photos). You've captured our day just like a fairytale, and we can relive it forever :)

Krista & Ed xx"

"I have completed the questionnaire form for the Vows Awards, obviously it goes without saying that we voted for you. Your service and expertise was fantastic and we have already recommended you to a few of our friends!

Thanks again for everything.

Lisa and Grant"

Claire & Jeffery, The Torridon, Wester Ross

We are very fortunate here in Scotland to be surrounded by amazing scenery and fantastic wedding venues, and today we were shooting in a stunning West Coast setting. The Torridon is situated at the head of a sea loch and is surrounded by spectacular mountains - it's absolutely breathtaking.
Claire & Jeffery's guests had travelled from London and the United States to join them on their special day and the couple certainly gave them a weekend to remember. The wedding day began with blue skies and hillwalking, sea kayaking and clay pigeon shooting, before everyone returned to the hotel to spruce themselves up for the ceremony.
Claire looked absolutely gorgeous and her handsome groom couldn't have been happier! After a lovely service they took the opportunity to explore the grounds (with us in tow!). The last time we photographed Claire and Jeffery was on the Millennium Bridge in London in the pouring rain during their engagement shoot. While that shoot was also great fun, it was fantastic that the Scottish weather delivered on their big day and we didn't have to get our umbrella out on this occasion!
After drinks in a very well stocked whisky bar the couple and their guests retired to the library for some very funny, and moving speeches, and an excellent meal.
We then dashed off to photograph the sun as it set over Upper Loch Torridon - the perfect end to a perfect day.
