Scottish MPA Awards

We were celebrating last night after one of Jay's wedding photographs won a a Certificate of Merit at the Scottish Master Photographers Association's annual awards night.

The awards ceremony was held in North Queensferry and was attended by many of Scotland's top photographers.

The day-long event included seminars by two of the UK's leading social photographers, Bella West FMPA and Simon John FMPA. It was really interesting to hear how they developed their very distinctive photography styles.

Jay was awarded a Certificate of Merit in recognition of "outstanding achievement for originality and technical excellence" in the Contemporary Wedding category. The image was taken at a wedding at Fingask Castle last August.

As always it was a great social event and it was fantastic to catch up with old friends. We'd like to thank the organisers for all their hard work and congratulate all the award winners on their well-deserved success.

The Master Photographers Association is the UK's only trade body exclusively for full-time professional wedding, portrait and commercial photographers. The association has 1,800 fully qualified members throughout the UK.

Happy New Year - here's to 2009!

First of all we'd like to wish you a Happy New Year! It's always exciting to start a new year and we are sure that 2009 will bring great things to all those we know and love.

We had a fantastic 2008, which culminated with us winning the VOWS Photography Award for outstanding service and dedication to the Scottish wedding industry. Jay was also recognised by his peers when he picked up an Award of Excellence at the Scottish Master Photographers Association Awards.

We also made the headlines in 2008, when the Daily Record featured photographs from a Trash the Dress shoot with our fantastic and gorgeous bride Kelly Thacker. We will be continuing to offer fashion-style, post wedding shoots in 2009 and would like to stress that the name is something of a misnomer as our focus is on creating artistic, striking photos and no dresses have been harmed!

We have exciting plans in store for 2009, starting with a new look which we will be revealing very soon! Our portrait division continues to grow and we will also be adding some fantastic new products and services to our wedding photography packages.

In the coming weeks we will be launching a new website that will feature our fine art, landscape and travel photography. Our brides and grooms often ask if they can purchase these prints and we are happy to say that we will be offering special deals for existing clients.

Both Jay and I are working on exhibition material at the moment. Photography is a way of life and a passion for us and we look forward to sharing our personal work with you soon!

Finally, we plan to continue our charity work in 2009. Last year we gave our support to The Sick Kids Friends Foundation and The Willow Foundation - two amazing charities that deserve the highest praise for their work with children and young adults.

We are a VOWS Awards 2008 nominee

Some fantastic news today, we have just heard that we have been nominated for the VOWS Awards 2008! The awards recognise consistently excellent levels of customer service in the Scottish wedding industry.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our beautiful brides and gorgeous grooms who voted for us. As a young business, this kind of recognition means so much to us.
We will be attending the awards ceremony in Glasgow on November 2nd where the overall winners will be announced.
Now just the tricky decision of what to wear... surely this is a legitimate excuse to buy those new shoes?

"I've logged onto the Vows website and nominated Elemental Weddings. Thanks for letting me know. My intention was always to vote but I didn't realise that the closing date was coming up. Would have been terrible if I had missed it.

Take care,

Therese"

"All done. GOOD LUCK!!

Hope you are both well.

Sheila"

I was in tears this morning, they are just so wonderful (the day had gone so quickly that I'd been really looking forward to seeing the story unfold again through your photos).
