Rebecca, Barry & Nick - Edinburgh portrait photography

It was a bright, crisp day when we met up with this lovely family. Rebecca & Barry are from Canada and were keen to have some photos with their gorgeous two-year-old son, Nick during their time living in Edinburgh.

We had a great time exploring the Old Town's many nooks and crannies, and Nick was particularly delighted when we found ourselves next to a very big 'boat' (Dynamic Earth).

Here are a few of our favourites from the shoot:

Jenni & Neil - Edinburgh pre-wedding shoot

On Sunday we met up with Jenni and Neil, whose wedding we are photographing at Fettes College in November.

As these guys live down south they'd had a hectic weekend catching up with family and friends, and with wedding preparations.

They were great fun to photograph and happily went along with all of our suggestions (even the strange ones!).

Here's a little preview of what's to come...

We just couldn't resist this!

Lee & Paul's pre-wedding shoot, Edinburgh

After a month of very mixed weather, we were delighted to wake up to blue skies on Sunday morning.

We met up with Lee & Paul at the Botanic Gardens and took a walk through our favourite areas, stopping for photos along the way. We are photographing their wedding at Solsgirth House (a beautiful venue) this August and this was the perfect chance for them to get used to the cameras.

It was also a good chance for me to find out all about Lee's dress, while Jay and Paul were engrossed in a conversation on golf and guitars!

We made a new friend!

Jess, Billy & bump - Edinburgh maternity photography

The first time we photographed Jess was last June, when she rocked her wedding dress on Brighton Beach in what turned out to be an awesome Trash the Dress shoot.

We were really excited then to hear that not only was Jess pregnant, but that she was keen to make the trip up to Edinburgh from Tunbridge Wells to work with us again.

We had a great shoot on Friday with Jess and her husband Billy, and, as always, there was lots of laughter throughout.

Jess is positively glowing and looks gorgeous. Here are a few of our favourites from the shoot...

Kelly - Edinburgh portrait photography

This morning I met up with Kelly for a portrait shoot on Portobello beach.

Kelly and I have known each other since we were 16 and went through college and uni together. We are now both onto our second career - Kelly runs the hugely successful life coaching business, Lust For Life Coaching.

She is such a positive person to be around and always puts a smile on my face. I am very lucky to count her as one of my best friends!

Bluebell & CHAS fundraiser

We would like to wish Tracylee Armit all the best for her charity fundraiser tonight. Tracylee is a paramedic based at Dalkeith Ambulance Station and is holding the event in aid of two very worthy causes - CHAS (Children's Hospice Association Scotland) and The Bluebell Campaign.

We were delighted to be asked to support the event and have donated a gift voucher for a family portrait shoot. We look forward to photographing the winning family in the near future!

Happy New Year - here's to 2009!

First of all we'd like to wish you a Happy New Year! It's always exciting to start a new year and we are sure that 2009 will bring great things to all those we know and love.

We had a fantastic 2008, which culminated with us winning the VOWS Photography Award for outstanding service and dedication to the Scottish wedding industry. Jay was also recognised by his peers when he picked up an Award of Excellence at the Scottish Master Photographers Association Awards.

We also made the headlines in 2008, when the Daily Record featured photographs from a Trash the Dress shoot with our fantastic and gorgeous bride Kelly Thacker. We will be continuing to offer fashion-style, post wedding shoots in 2009 and would like to stress that the name is something of a misnomer as our focus is on creating artistic, striking photos and no dresses have been harmed!

We have exciting plans in store for 2009, starting with a new look which we will be revealing very soon! Our portrait division continues to grow and we will also be adding some fantastic new products and services to our wedding photography packages.

In the coming weeks we will be launching a new website that will feature our fine art, landscape and travel photography. Our brides and grooms often ask if they can purchase these prints and we are happy to say that we will be offering special deals for existing clients.

Both Jay and I are working on exhibition material at the moment. Photography is a way of life and a passion for us and we look forward to sharing our personal work with you soon!

Finally, we plan to continue our charity work in 2009. Last year we gave our support to The Sick Kids Friends Foundation and The Willow Foundation - two amazing charities that deserve the highest praise for their work with children and young adults.
